What to expect from a somatic massage session in Paris

When discovering deep-release somatic massage, the first question is often straightforward: what will actually happen? A session does not begin with touch. It begins with a clear framework, an unhurried conversation and the ability to say yes, no or not now at every stage.

01

Before the appointment: knowing what to expect

Before the session, you receive practical information about the duration, price, location and boundaries of the treatment. You can ask questions in advance about the areas involved, draping and possible adjustments.

This preparation prevents important information being introduced at the last moment. Deep bodywork should begin with understandable reference points, not a request for blind trust.

You should be able to understand the treatment before being asked to consent to it.
02

Arrival: discussing expectations and boundaries

The session starts with a conversation about what brings you, how you feel that day and what you do or do not want from the treatment. You do not need to tell your whole story; a few words may be enough to adjust the pace.

The framework and areas of the body involved are explained clearly. Your consent is requested before we begin and remains revocable. You can ask for an adjustment, a pause or for the session to stop at any time, without needing to explain why.

03

Settling in: breathing, positioning and draping

A short period of breathing and grounding helps you step away from the pace outside. You settle in as comfortably as possible and remain covered by a drape. Only the area being worked on is uncovered, with your agreement.

Nothing is rushed. Some people relax quickly; others need more time to feel present and safe. Both responses are normal. The treatment follows your pace, not the other way around.

✓

A slow pace

Giving the body time to respond without being hurried.

✓

Continuous draping

Protecting your comfort and privacy throughout the session.

✓

Clear verbal cues

Announcing transitions or checking consent whenever useful.

✓

Ongoing freedom

Changing or stopping the treatment at any point.

04

The massage: progressive, personalised touch

The work begins gradually. The quality and depth of touch, and the time spent on each area, are adjusted to your sensations. Depending on the framework agreed together, the massage may include the back, abdominal area, pelvis and fascia.

The aim is not to provoke a reaction or force release. A sigh, warmth, light trembling, emotion or a simple sense of calm may arise. Nothing dramatic may happen at all. The value of the session is not measured by its intensity.

Release cannot be commanded. It becomes possible when the body no longer feels rushed.
05

Integration: returning gently

The massage does not end abruptly. A few quiet moments allow you to notice the room, your breathing and your points of support again. You get up in your own time, followed by a short conversation if you would like to put words to what you experienced.

After the session, it can help to keep some quiet time, drink water and simply notice how you feel. This is a wellbeing and body-awareness practice: it does not diagnose and does not replace medical care or psychotherapy.

06

Why the session lasts 2.5 hours

The 2.5 hours include arrival, preparation, treatment and integration. This does not mean every minute is massage. The format ensures the session is not reduced to a technical sequence performed too quickly.

Taking time makes a precise framework, gentle transitions and genuine attention to your responses possible. It also means you are not pushed abruptly back into the pace of the day when you leave.

A clear, slow and respectful session.

Your pace remains the guiding thread.
